In April 2026, Patrick Atkinson, a Scottish Rite Freemason from Delaware, will lace up his running shoes and set out on a monumental journey, running from Wilmington, Delaware, to Lexington, Massachusetts. This isn’t just a physical test of endurance. It’s a fundraiser to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library, and a tribute to the role many Freemasons played in the American Revolution, 250 years ago.
Patrick, an experienced long-distance runner, will run 333 miles over 8 days. His route will take him through many areas that witnessed historic events during the American Revolution. Patrick is undertaking this extraordinary journey, running 50-60 miles a day, to raise awareness about the museum, to mark the events surrounding the founding of the United States and—most importantly—to connect with people, history, and Freemasons along the way.
Patrick will end his journey by running through historic downtown Lexington and arriving at the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library at 12 PM on April 11.
