Sudbury Plans Major Celebration For 250th Anniversary Of Revolution

SUDBURY, MA — The town of Sudbury is preparing to step back in time as it marks a major milestone in American history.

On Saturday, May 16, residents and visitors alike are invited to gather at Sudbury Town Center for “Sudbury 250 Day,” a large-scale community celebration commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. The free event, organized by the Sudbury 250 Committee, will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is expected to draw crowds from across the region.

Designed as the capstone event of the town’s anniversary programming, Sudbury 250 Day will blend education, entertainment, and immersive historical experiences for all ages. Organizers say the goal is to bring history to life while highlighting Sudbury’s unique role in the nation’s founding.

Attendees can expect a wide range of activities throughout the day, including living history demonstrations, colonial-era music and dancing, and appearances by the Sudbury Companies of Militia & Minute and the Sudbury Ancient Fyfe & Drum Company. A cannon firing demonstration is also planned, offering a dramatic glimpse into Revolutionary War-era military life.
