As residents and visitors celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution in Massachusetts, the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street traveling exhibition Voices and Votes: Democracy in America gives them access to the world-class Smithsonian Museum and to the untold stories of the six local communities hosting the exhibit – Ashby, Douglas, Holbrook, Lee, Sandwich, and Buckland/Shelburne Falls.
Voices and Votes explores the promises of the American Revolution, when visionaries sought to establish a nation whose power lay not in a monarchy, but in its citizens. The exhibit begins in the colonial era, with Massachusetts taking center stage and remaining visible throughout the stories told of freedom and independence in our nation.
Each site will host the Voices and Votes exhibition for six weeks. Following an opening event, each host organization will offer interactive community programs surrounding the exhibit itself. View the full list of community events and programs on our events calendar at www.masshumanities.org/events
