MBTA to offer increased service for upcoming Massachusetts 250 celebrations

The Fitchburg commuter rail and MBTA bus routes 77 and 62/76 will increase service over Patriots’ Day weekend to support Massachusetts 250 events in Arlington, Concord, Lexington, and Lincoln, MBTA officials announced Tuesday.

Several events commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution will take place across Massachusetts on April 19-20, including parades, reenactments, and museum programs.

Travelers are encouraged to take public transportation due to limited parking, multiple road closures, and expected heavy traffic, the announcement said.

Commuter Rail

Additional trains will run on the Fitchburg Line on Saturday, April 19, providing increased service to Concord and Lincoln. Bicycles will not be permitted on board during this time.

Bus

Bus schedules will be adjusted to accommodate Patriots’ Day weekend, with further details forthcoming, according to the announcement.

Arlington: Route 77, offering the most frequent service, will run every 15 minutes, or perhaps sooner, on weekends starting April 6. On April 30, closures cause a detour around Arlington Center.

Lexington: Route 62/76 will provide extra service on Saturday, April 19, between Lexington Center and Alewife with buses every 20–22 minutes from 5:10 AM to 7 PM.

Lincoln: Route 62/76 will add a temporary stop on Saturday, April 19, for the Minute Man National Historical Park Visitor Center.
