The Old Manse overlooks North Bridge where the Battle of Concord took place. It was constructed for a patriot minister and the grandfather of Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Emerson. Both Ralph Waldo Emerson and Nathaniel Hawthorne lived in the house at different points, and Emerson drafted Nature in the house.
It is now owned by the Trustees of Reservations. The Trustees offer tours and provide a series of videos online for school teachers to use in curriculum.
