The Edmund Fowle House

This house was the meeting place of the Massachusetts Provincial Congress in 1775, the Revolutionary government formed following the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The Treaty of Watertown, the first international treaty signed between the newly formed United States and a foreign power – the St. John’s and Mi’kmaq First Nations of Nova Scotia – was signed here in 1776.

The house is owned and operated as a museum by the Historical Society of Watertown, who provide guided tours on the third Sunday of most months year-round.
