This property is home to two separate houses that were the birthplaces of two US Presidents: John Adams and his son, John Quincy Adams. In John Adams’s birth home, he practiced law and authored the Massachusetts Constitution with Samuel Adams and James Bowdoin. John, Abigail, and John Quincy lived on the property until 1788, when they moved to Europe. They then moved back to Quincy to a nearby homestead called the Old House at Peace Field. Four generations of Adams lived at Peace Field until 1927.
The Adams birthplace property is a National Park Service site open to the public. The homestead at Peace Field is also an NPS site. Tours of the Adams birthplaces are available Thursdays through Sundays starting June 5, and the Old House at Peace Field is open Fridays and Sundays starting June 13. Visitors are required to have a pass and are encouraged to acquire these at the NPS Visitor Center in downtown Quincy.
