Celebrate America’s Semiquincentennial Anniversary.

The Semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America and independence from the British.

July 4th in Massachusetts is Independence Day at its origin.  It is where history, community, and celebration come together. From town greens and hometown parades to the historic sites and streets to Boston Harbor and the Esplanade the Commonwealth marks the holiday embracing our history of the American Revolution and America’s independence.

Fireworks Spectacular

On July 4, 2026, Massachusetts 250 is partnering with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the iconic Boston pops Fireworks Spectacular, at 
the Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade. This annual event is a uniquely Massachusetts event with a mix of orchestral music, top musical talent, patriotism, Armed Forces, and is free 
and open to all.

Together Massachusetts 250 and the Boston Symphony Orchestra will unite to honor the nation’s founding with top artistic talent.

This event will be broadcast nationally on CNN and regionally on WHDH. 

2026 is a once in a generation milestone that will in part, celebrate and reflect on the founding ideals of 1776 through events across the Commonwealth.  There will be exhibits, reenactments, plays, murals and community gatherings.  The American Revolution started here and throughout the year we will embrace civic pride and remember the events that led 
to our independence and to today.
