SUMMARY:Boston Massacre Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:The morning of March 5\, 1776\, on the sixth anniversary of the Boston Massacre\, British troops discovered that Patriot forces fortified Dorchester Heights overnight. The date had not been chosen by accident. Every anniversary of the Boston Massacre\, Patriot leaders remembered the event with orations and public commemorations. \nThis year\, for the two hundred and fifty sixth anniversary of the Boston Massacre\, join us as we recreate a historic Faneuil Hall Town Meeting debating the fate of the British soldiers who fired into the crowd on King Street. Was it a plot to commit murder or self-defense? Should the people of Boston extract vengeance against the soldiers or call for law and order above all else? \nHave your voice be heard in a Town Meeting debate and help decide: vengeance or justice? \nFree and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Songs of the Revolution with Diane Taraz at Reading Public Library
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy songs of the American Revolution with accomplished singer and dulcimer musician Diane Taraz\, as she shares historic music that became the rhythmic heartbeat of 1776. \nDiane presents songs that were enjoyed by both sides during the American Revolution\, exploring the fascinating world behind the lyrics. She sings and accompanies herself on mountain dulcimer and an instrument similar to the English guitar\, which was played by women in colonial times. \nFor years\, Diane Taraz has been writing her own songs and breathing new life into traditional ones. She brings a dry wit and a light touch to explain the intricacies of her music. Audiences listen entranced as she sings a cappella\, a challenging style at which she excels. Dirty Linen magazine calls her a “fine\, inventive guitarist” and she plays lap dulcimer with equal passion.

SUMMARY:Knox Trail 250 - Worcester
DESCRIPTION:On July 4\, 2026 our nation will celebrate the semiquincentennial anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Leading up to this historic birthday Revolution 250 was created. In keeping with this celebratory campaign\, it is with great enthusiasm that we present the momentous commemoration of this country’s founding\, Knox Trail 250. This sequenced program is designed to represent the Henry Knox Noble Train of Artillery of 1776\, the catalyst for what we now recognize in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as Evacuation Day. \nOn the morning of January 10\, 2026\, along the Massachusetts and New York state border\, there will be a ceremony representative of the official Knox handoff that occurred in December before embarking on the historic journey. In Massachusetts\, starting in Great Barrington\, going through over 33 towns\, including locations in New York\, a simulation of the journey would be celebrated in designated hubs. \nThis sequenced parade of regional recognition will incorporate the invitation and participation of town managers\, local historians\, celebrating the commemoration and respective connections in the Noble Trail of Artillery. \nWORCESTER\nSaturday\, January 31\, 2026\nAC Hotel by Marriott Worcester \nFRAMINGHAM\nSunday\, February 8\, 2026\nThe Village Hall\, Framingham Green \nCAMBRIDGE\nFriday\, February 27\, 2026\nLongfellow House \nROXBURY\nWednesday\, March 4\, 2026\nFirst Church in Roxbury \nBOSTON\nTuesday\, March 17\, 2026\nDorchester Heights

SUMMARY:Lexington History Museums Presents the 1773 Tea Burning Reenactment - A Lex250 Signature Event
DESCRIPTION:On December 13\, 1773\, unfair British taxes were on everyone’s mind as three ships sat in Boston harbor\, carrying shipments of East India Company tea. Lexington Town Meeting concluded a multi-day debate with a resolution to stop purchasing or drinking imported British tea. The crowd spilled out onto the common behind the meeting house and made a bonfire\, throwing the entire town’s supply of tea into it. Three days later\, the Boston Tea Party would make headlines\, but Lexington was there first. \nJoin Lexington History Museums for Lexington’s Annual Tea Burning Reenactment. Take part in fun\, interactive activities to learn more about why tea was so important to the Revolution. Meet with the Lexington residents of 1773\, portrayed by the Lexington Minute Men\, to hear their side of the story\, find out where tea comes from\, and end the day by gathering around the fire and burning the tea!
