SUMMARY:Remembering the Revolution
DESCRIPTION:How do we remember the American Revolution?\nIn honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence\, Heritage Museums & Gardens presents Remembering the Revolution\, a site-wide exhibition exploring what life was like for everyday New Englanders during America’s founding era.\nDrawing from Heritage’s collections\, the exhibition examines the experiences of Patriots\, Loyalists\, local Wampanoag soldiers\, pacifist Shaker communities\, and others whose stories are often overshadowed by famous battles and Founding Fathers.\nHighlights include silver crafted by Paul Revere\, nine military miniature regiments\, and a 24-square-foot diorama depicting the British surrender at the Battle of Yorktown. Throughout Heritage’s 100-acre campus\, visitors can also discover interpretive displays connecting the museum’s collections and landscapes to the Revolutionary period.\nIncluded with museum admission.

SUMMARY:Witness to the Revolution
DESCRIPTION:In Hatfield’s oldest cemetery\, the Hill Burying Ground\,  are 217 graves of people who were living in Hatfield during the Revolutionary War. Each one has been flagged with their name and age\, including the handful of babies born in 1776 or before the war ended in 1783. This is an on-going installation\, and will be open during daylight hours through October 3rd.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for fun day of authentic battle re-enactments and encampments in rural Dighton\, MA! Witness the re-creations and lifestyles of a 18th century style encampment while touring the camps. Come and see soldiers and camp-followers demonstrate 18th century skills\, crafts\, drills\, music\, cooking\, and get an up-close view of an 18th century style battle. There’s no better way to appreciate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation! Camps are open on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM\, and on Sunday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Battles are held on both Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 PM\, but feel free to come early and leave late. Perfect for historians\, teachers\, and students. This is a FREE\, FAMILY-FRIENDLY event to the public\, hosted by the Town of Dighton and the 13th Continental Regiment. 18th Century period vendors\, and modern food trucks will be open to all throughout the day.

SUMMARY:Trodding on the Knox Trail – in Celebration of MA250 Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:In Colonial times\, the Great Road connected Springfield and Albany. In the winter of 1776\, Henry Knox famously led his “Noble Train of Artillery” along this route on its way to Boston\, helping turn the tide of the American Revolutionary War. Remarkably\, portions of the original route still exist today\, hidden within Swann and Beartown State Forests! In celebration of MA250\, explore a preserved section of one of the Berkshires’ oldest roads and hear its stories as told by Rob Hoogs\, from the Bidwell House Museum and Monterey Historical Society.  The program is co-sponsored with MA Department of Conservation and Recreation\, and part of the 2026 Housatonic Heritage Walk series.  \nModerate difficulty hike\, recommended for teenagers and older; 2 hours–2.5 miles. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. Bring drink/snack\, sunscreen\, and bug spray. Hiking poles are recommended. Friendly dogs are permitted on leash.
