DESCRIPTION:Join the City of Boston Archaeology and American Veterans Archaeological Recovery teams as they excavate a portion of the redoubt built on the night of June 16\, 1775\, triggering the start of the Battle of Bunker Hill. \nExcavations should reach the bottom of the trench dug that evening by the end of the first week. This 2.5-hour walking tour will travel along the Freedom Trail and follow in the footsteps of Colonial Bostonians\, all of whom grappled with the difficult – yet essential – question of loyalty or rebellion to crown and country. As we travel past historic landmarks from Revolutionary Boston and Charlestown\, your guide shares the gripping story of a small colonial town careening toward war with the British empire.

DESCRIPTION:Echoes of Valor\nHosted by the Bunker Hill Monument Association \nEchoes of Valor is a commemorative concert honoring the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill\, the founding of the United States Army\, and the service of America’s veterans. The evening features a performance by the United States Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus\, the official musical ambassadors of the U.S. Army. \nThe event begins with a ceremonial procession from the Edward Everett Statue in the Boston Public Garden to the Hatch Memorial Shell\, featuring the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts\, the Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts\, the Sons of the American Revolution\, the Daughters of the American Revolution\, a United States Marine Corps Color Guard\, and the USS Constitution Color Guard and ship’s complement. \nThe concert begins at 7:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.\nErika Tarantal of WCVB Channel 5 serves as Master of Ceremonies.
