SUMMARY:250th Anniversary Paul Revere Midnight Ride Dinner & Candlelight Procession at The Inn at Hastings Park
DESCRIPTION:On the evening of April 18\, 1775\, Paul Revere was summoned and given the task of riding on horseback from Charlestown to Lexington\, approx. 12.5 miles\, to inform two leaders of the Sons of Liberty\, John Hancock and Samuel Adams who were staying in Lexington\, with the news that British soldiers stationed in Boston were about to march into the countryside northwest of the town. During his famous Midnight Ride\, Revere alerted the countryside of the British military movements with shouts of “the Redcoats are coming!” In the early morning on April 19\, 1775\, Capt. John Parker led 77 local militiamen and faced arriving British troops. Someone — still unknown to this day — fired a shot\, which provoked the start of the American Revolution. \nTo honor the 250th anniversary of this historic ride\, The Inn at Hastings Park\, Boston area’s only Relais & Châteaux property located in historic Lexington\, MA\, is offering a special four-course Colonial-themed feast created by Executive Chef Alissa Tsukakoshi paired with local area brews and spirits from 6 – 8 p.m. in a communal dining setting in Town Meeting Bistro. As a nod to Paul Revere\, a portrait of him on horseback is featured over the fireplace. This dinner is for adults only\, 21+ / $150/person\, plus tax & gratuity. \nFollowing the dinner at 8:15\, guests gather in the foyer of the Inn to receive a candle lit lantern and are guided on a 10-minute walk to the Hancock-Clark House to watch a 30-minute dramatized and theatrical reenactment as Paul Revere (and William Dawes)\, fellow Sons of Liberty\, rode hard from Boston arriving in Lexington just before midnight to warn Patriot leaders John Hancock and Samuel Adams\, who were staying in town\, of the impending British raid.

SUMMARY:Concord250: One-Day Choir with Kenter Davies at the Armory
DESCRIPTION:Join friends and neighbors in this one of a kind collective choral event! Led and arranged by beloved NYC music leader Kenter Davies (who grew up in Sudbury!)\, we’ll explore harmony\, free our voices\, and build community through the song “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. There’s no auditions\, no experience necessary\, and no seeking of perfection\, We’ll just be making music for music-making’s sake! \nA timeless classic about the beauty of the natural world and the kindness we can afford one another as humans\, “What a Wonderful World” feels more important than ever to sing. We’ll explore a choral arrangement of the tune featuring lush\, jazzy harmonies. \nDuring our time together we will: \n○ Play singing games to activate our voices\, bodies\, and connection to one another \n○ Work through the song section by section\, infusing some musicality as we go \n○ Discuss the lyrics of the song and what meaning we can find in it \n○ Sing through the song a bunch and explore the different journeys it may take us on! \nA week prior to the event\, you’ll receive the sheet music and vocal demos arrangement of the song to use as a resource. You don’t have to be able to read sheet music\, you can absolutely learn by ear! We encourage folks to arrive familiar with the arrangement\, but there’s no pressure to learn everything in advance. We’ll fill in the gaps for one another as we explore and play along the way! \nWright Tavern Sing is a program sponsored by the Wright Tavern Legacy Trust. We bring communal music events to Concord that are accessible\, joyful\, and bring a sense of belonging and connection to the greater village. For more information\, go to www.wrighttavern.org/sing. \nKenter Davies is a vocal arranger\, music educator\, and choral facilitator based in Brooklyn\, New York. He dedicates his work to creating spaces where people can engage with music free from the pressure of perfection\, but full of complexity and joy. He highlights the journey over the destination and firmly believes in making music for music-making’s sake. \nKenter facilitates One Day Choirs and other music events with the NYC-based creative community\, Gaia Music Collective. He has led One-Day Choirs all across the country\, celebrating the magic that diversity brings to group song. \nGET YOUR TICKETS $10-$25 \nAdd to calendar

SUMMARY:Lanterns & Luminaries with Ken Burns
DESCRIPTION:In honor of the 250th anniversary of the “two if by sea” lantern signal\, Lanterns & Luminaries 2025 will be a unique event filled with commemoration\, inspiration\, and celebration. Filmmaker Ken Burns will accept the Third Lantern Award\, which is presented annually to an individual who embodies the values symbolized in Old North Church’s iconic signal lanterns: leadership\, courage\, hope\, tenacity\, and active citizenship. \nWith Ken’s much-anticipated film\, “The American Revolution\,” scheduled to air on PBS in the fall of 2025\, we cannot think of a better person to honor with the Third Lantern Award in this anniversary year. Ken’s documentaries and approach to filmmaking have been an inspiration as we bring the past to life for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. His films demonstrate time and again that recounting history is not simply a retelling of events and facts — it is finding the human story\, the universal experiences that allow us to put ourselves in the shoes of those who lived decades or centuries ago. His masterful storytelling and willingness to face America’s complexity and contradictions head-on have been the platonic ideal we strive for in our interpretation of Old North’s three centuries of history. \nFor questions about our sponsorship opportunities\, which range from $2\,500 to $50\,000\, contact Nikki Stewart at nstewart@oldnorth.com. \n

SUMMARY:Pole Capping Day - Colonial Reenactment of a Call to Patriots in Bedford
DESCRIPTION:Join the Bedford Minuteman Company and Minuteman Companies from the area as they converge on Willson Park in Bedford to commemorate the spirit and courage of the patriots who sparked the American Revolution. Pole Capping Day is considered the start of the Patriots Day celebration in the region. \nThe Liberty Pole Capping and Raising is a reenactment of a practice in Colonial America signifying dissatisfaction with varied rulings and conduct of the English government of that date. It is meant to be commemorative of the spirit of liberty exemplified by Bedfordians and other colonials in the early phases of the War for Independence. \nThis ceremony features a march\, displays of musketry\, and music of the period performed by the men and women of the many Minuteman Companies that come to participate. But the main event – which draws not only spectators\, but also the soldiers of His Majesty’s 10th Regiment of Foot\, intent on stopping the defiant rabble-rousing – is the raising of a tall wooden pole\, which is climbed by a Bedford Minuteman and affixed with a red knitted cap. \nAlong with the event\, there is a traditional Pancake breakfast and other activities to help kick off a Patriots Day celebration to remember.

SUMMARY:"Sacred Rebellion: Congregationalists in Revolutionary Massachusetts" Exhibition Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Make plans to join us at 14 Beacon to celebrate the opening of our new in-person exhibition\, “Sacred Rebellion: Congregationalists in Revolutionary Massachusetts.” The evening will feature an opportunity to visit the exhibition and curator’s comments from New England’s Hidden Histories Project Director and “Sacred Rebellion” curator\, Dr. Tricia Peone. \nBy the time the American Revolution began\, many Congregationalists had already embraced a theological justification for war and revolution. Ministers and laity alike believed that God favored them and that their cause was a morally justified\, sacred rebellion. Through sermons\, books\, poems\, songs\, and letters\, Congregationalists shared their stories\, reflected on their moral obligations to each other\, and debated questions of liberty and loyalty before\, during\, and after the war. \nJoin us to learn how these discussions shaped the legacy of Congregationalism and the way the Revolutionary War is remembered today. \nThis event is free and open to all\, and drinks and light snacks will be provided. Registration is required via Eventbrite by following this link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1255488392579?aff=oddtdtcreator \nAfter registering\, you will receive an email with information about attending the reception. \nEmail any questions to programs@14beacon.org. \nSPEAKER BIO \nDr. Tricia Peone joined the CLA in 2022 as the Project Director for New England’s Hidden Histories. Prior to joining the CLA\, she was a research scholar at Historic New England for the Recovering New England’s Voices project. She has also previously worked as the public programs director at New Hampshire Humanities\, a university lecturer teaching classes on the Salem witch trials\, early New England\, and public history\, and as a researcher for cultural heritage organizations. She holds a PhD in history from the University of New Hampshire with a specialization in the early modern Atlantic world and history of science.

SUMMARY:USS Lexington Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special USS Lexington Ceremony commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington\, the historic clash that ignited the American Revolution. On the morning of April 19\, 1775\, colonial militia and British Regulars exchanged the “shot heard ’round the world” on Lexington Green\, marking the very beginning of America’s fight for independence. This annual ceremony honors that legacy – not only remembering the patriots who fell in 1775\, but also celebrating the enduring ties between the Town of Lexington and the five U.S. Navy vessels that proudly bore the name “USS Lexington” in later years. In this Semiquincentennial year\, the commemoration is especially meaningful\, uniting historians\, veterans\, local residents\, and visitors in tribute to 250 years of courage and sacrifice.

DESCRIPTION:Whose Revolution: Special Exhibition Opening Day \nMarch 28\, 2025 \nThe first of three 250th special exhibitions at the Concord Museum\, Whose Revolution will highlight the competing and contradictory meanings of revolution during the period leading up to the war. Through maps\, documents\, furniture\, and other objects\, this exhibition will explore the gradual shifts that led to broader support for independence. It will examine the experiences of Loyalists and the work of building consensus. It will also emphasize the experiences of enslaved people and Indigenous communities to examine questions of liberty\, sovereignty\, and protest during the period. Through objects and media installations\, this exhibition will feature the different meanings of revolution for the individuals living through this period\, revealing how the idea of declaring independence from England was far from inevitable and developed only gradually. \nTo commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution\, the Concord Museum will offer ongoing opportunities to gather as a community\, reflect on the founding of our nation\, and engage with the significance of our shared past for our present moment. Highlights will include three new special exhibitions\, a special speaker series\, a published catalog\, and expanded educational resources. Together\, these initiatives will showcase the incredible stories behind the eyewitness objects held at the Museum to illuminate the many different ways people experienced\, shaped\, and remembered the Revolution.

SUMMARY:Concord Women's Chorus "Songs of the Revolution"
DESCRIPTION:Parish Hall\, First Parish in Concord\, 20 Lexington Road\, Concord \nTo mark 250 years since the start of the American Revolution\, CWC member Diane Taraz traces the road to rebellion with songs enjoyed by ordinary people\, especially those often overlooked\, such as women and people of color. She presents lively ballads\, serene hymns\, bold marches\, passionate laments\, and songs created by both sides to promote either independence or loyalty to the crown. Dressed in a gown of the time\, she plays authentic instruments such as lap dulcimer and an “English guitar” of the type favored by women in the 18th century. Join her for a trip back in time. Suggested donation $20. \nDiane is on the Scholarly Advisory Board of the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History\, based in New York City. For over a decade she directed the Lexington Historical Society Colonial Singers. This is her second year with the Concord Women’s Chorus.
