SUMMARY:Revolutionary Plymouth 250: “Revolutionary Voices: Plymouth Debates Liberty and Loyalty”
DESCRIPTION:Co-produced by Plymouth Antiquarian Society and Mercy Otis Warren Society\, this powerful short play brings to life the fierce debates of Plymouth’s Committee of Correspondence as they grappled with how to respond to the escalating tensions leading to the American Revolution. Performed in the very space where these deliberations once unfolded\, the play draws from authentic resolutions\, letters\, and documents of the era. Adding depth and perspective\, the play also features commentary from Mercy Otis Warren—Plymouth’s own trailblazing political thinker and one of the most influential women of the Revolutionary era. The performance will be followed by a discussion with the cast and Nancy Rubin Stuart\, President of the Mercy Otis Warren Society and author of The Muse of the Revolution: The Secret Pen of Mercy Otis Warren and the Founding of a Nation.
