DESCRIPTION:Born in 1731 to a respected Marshfield family\, Nathaniel Ray Thomas rose to become a leading figure in his community – a Harvard-educated merchant\, gentleman farmer\, justice of the peace\, and one of the most prominent Tories in all of New England. \nWhen the winds of independence swept through the colonies\, Thomas remained loyal to Crown and King\, choosing allegiance to Britain. His grand estate quartered British troops. His home served as a headquarters for Loyalist resistance.
