SUMMARY:American Antiquarian Society Evening Public Tour
DESCRIPTION:Go behind-the-scenes at the American Antiquarian Society to learn about its collection of 4.5 million printed\, handwritten\, and visual primary sources produced in what is now the United States up to 1900. These materials include thousands related to the Revolutionary War and our nation’s founding. The tour includes patriot printer Isaiah Thomas’s original printing press\, which he smuggled out of Boston on the eve of the Battles of Lexington and Concord to safety in Worcester. Thomas published the first eye-witness account of the battles in his newspaper\, The Massachusetts Spy. \nRegistration for the free public tour is required\, as space is limited.
